What is a Password Manager

Simply put: a password manager is an application which you can use to track your usernames and passwords.

The data will be stored encrypted and you will have to provide a master password (usually) to access your passwords. Here you can list what server you use them on, the username, the password, and often add some notes about it.

Most will even let you create groups to help organize.

Most modern web browsers have built in password managers for the sites you visit, but they only work on the web browser you are currently in, so if you switch from one machine to another, or if you switch browsers, it probably won’t work for you – that’s why I personally like external applications.
